Well..why did i chose to lend this book from the library? Good question..i dont know. I had tried reading this earlier but i was not patient enough to even get past the first page. So i thought of giving it another shot. Afterall why so much hullaboo about a book! It won the pulitzer so it cannot be boring! And boy..i enjoyed the book. Scout, the narrator is one of the funniest characters i have read about..and most of the time joke is on her. That makes her all the more adorable. There are moments when you forget that it is a child talking. Atticus is a father every child would dream of. The evenings on his lap reading the paper is a picture every reader takes away from this book. Jem and Dill are fun. Their childhood is full of games and tricks. The book is gripping till the end. The courtroom drama is one of the chapters i enjoyed the most. The part when Scout asks Jem how her teacher can hate Hitler with such fervor when she agrees to the persecution of blacks in her own country. The rawness of the South comes alive in the book.A great read...full of dry humour and great twists.
